Friends of Environment and Social Development (FESD) is a Rwandan non-profit organization established in 2018 and officially registered with legal personality number 898-RGB/NGO/LP/04/2023. The organization is dedicated to promoting environmental protection, climate resilience, and sustainable social and economic development within communities across Rwanda.
FESD was founded to address critical challenges such as climate change, deforestation, land degradation, biodiversity loss, and unsustainable agricultural practices. Through community-centered approaches, the organization works closely with local authorities, partners, youth, women, and vulnerable groups to design and implement practical solutions that improve livelihoods while preserving natural resources.
The organization’s work focuses on key areas including ecosystem restoration, tree planting, sustainable agriculture, environmental education, community empowerment, and income-generating initiatives. By promoting climate-smart practices, food security, and environmental awareness, FESD helps communities build resilience and adapt to environmental and economic challenges. With strong partnerships at local and international levels, FESD continues to expand its impact through innovative projects, research, and collaborative action. The organization is committed to creating a future where communities thrive in harmony with the environment, contributing to national development goals and global sustainability efforts.
